Olimar hops into a little rocket ship that blasts away up towards the sky. If you get caught in the ship as it goes up, you take damage, and if you don't you still get a lot of damage because the stage becomes infested by plants that try to eat you. Once you take all that damage, Olimar comes screaming down in his ship slamming you into the distance.
