Pokemon Fire Red/Leaf Green Gym Leaders
Pewter City -- Leader Brock -- Boulder Badge

  • Pokemon: Geodude (lvl-12) & Onix (lvl-14)
  • Type: Rock
  • Recommended Type/level: Grass/Water - level 10+
  • Payment: TM39 - Rock Tomb

Brock is a easy trainer in general, rock type usually are, so if you have a grass or water Pokemon, you will school this leader with ease. Whip out your starter and use a water/grass based attack on his first Pokemon, a level 14 Geodude, it should kill it if your Pokemon is at the right level. If you chose the fire starter, keep using your best attack it will chip away at his health and eventually, kill it. After that he will pull out a stronger Onix, witch, with a water or grass type, will go down in one turn, but keep using the strategy you used before on the Geodude to finish off the onix, after winning, claim your badge!

Cerulean City -- Leader Misty -- Knuckle Badge

  • Pokemon: Sartyu (lvl-18) & Starmie (lvl-21)
  • Type: Water
  • Recommended Type/level: Electric/grass - level 19+
  • Payment: TM11 - Bubble beam

You would never think Misty would be harmless, but she knows how to battle! The best Pokemon for this battle is either the grass starter, or a wild pikachu you hopefully caught in the grass, well if you have those Pokemon, this battle is still hard. Her Pokemon have a good defense and now how to hurt you, so send out your Pokemon to start the battle. She sends out a level 19 Staryu. Hit it with a electric or grass move and kill it in a few blows, but if you have a fire type, you might wanna go cry, unless it is like level 28, it will be an intense battle, keep using physical attacks like tackle or metal claw to get the job done. Make sure you use health restoring items like potions because she will likely lower your health. Next comes out her Starmie, witch is pretty hard, I remember when I fought her, I had chosen charmander as my starter, and I had to retry this gym like 6 times! But after I caught, and trained a wild pikachu, I finished the job! Take down her water Pokemon and move on to the next gym.

Vermilion City -- Leader Lt. Surge -- Thunder Badge

  • Pokemon: Voltorb (lvl-21) & Pikachu (lvl-18) & Raichu (lvl-24)
  • Type: Electric
  • Recommended Type/level: Ground - level 20+
  • Payment: TM34 - Shock Wave

Thunder Pokemon are one of my favorites, and I am not just saying that, I am saying it because they are super powerful with the right moves, they can paralyze you and them smash you with intense attacks when your down, so get up and fight! his first Pokemon is a level 21 Voltob. This guy is not so tough, if you have caught Diglett, Geodude, Sandshrew or their evolutions this battle wont be as hard as it would be, if you had any of those Pokemon, you could take this gym with no problems, but if you just have your starter Pokemon and some other crappy weak ones that only know HM moves, this will be a hard battle. Kill the Voltorb with attacks like ember, or any attack really, they will all do damage. Next is a weaker Pikachu, witch I think looks is a bit easier, but looks can be deceiving. This little rat will paralyze you (if you already are not) and slam you with force, so take him down with a couple attacks and its on to the secret weapon! Now, comes the level 24 Raichu, witch is the strongest Pokemon you have faced in your journey yet, he will pack a powerful punch, don't let him use big thunder based attacks, keep blasting him with attacks and use potions (I think you'll need them) and take this puppy down!.

Celadon City -- Leader Erika -- Rainbow Badge

  • Pokemon: Victreebel (lvl-29) & Tangela (lvl-24) & Vileplume (lvl-29)
  • Type: Grass
  • Recommended Type/level: Fire - level 28+
  • Payment: TM19 - Giga Drain

Ok, I love the name, Erika, I don't know why, but I have always loved that name.... *sigh* well we could sit here all day and share out feelings, or we could get down to business. Erika starts out with a level 29 Victreebel, a fire type Pokemon would be the best in this situation, but a different type will have to do. If you have a fire type, jut blast it a few times with a fire based attack, and it will be taken down, but if you have a different type, the best thing to do is, like always, keep using your best attacks, or one that you think will do the most damage, if you need to use a potion, wait until the next Pokemon, because it is weaker. After, is a weaker Pokemon, a level 24 Tangela, witch, again, can be taken down in like 2 blows with a fire type, but now is the time to re-gain health if necessary, because the Pokemon aren't getting any weaker. Out comes another level 29, this time, it is a Vileplume! This is her strongest Pokemon, and will probably give you some kinda of defect in battle (asleep, paralyzed, poisoned etc..) so, try to shake off that disadvantage and take down that thing with a fire attack ^^ and if you don't have one, than, umm... just keep using good moves, and potions when the time is right, like usual.

Fuchsia City -- Leader Sabrina -- Marsh Badge

  • Pokemon: Kadabra (lvl-38) & Mr. Mime (lvl-37) & Alakazam (lvl-43) & Venomoth (lvl-38)
  • Type: Psychic
  • Recommended Type/level: Any - level 40 (about)
  • Payment: TM04 - Calm Mind

Since Dark Pokemon weren't discovered in this point in time, you wont win with super effective moves, you will have a long hard battle with Sabrina and her group of strong psychic Pokemon. Pull out your strongest Pokemon, or a strong Pokemon, and battle her first Pokemon, a level 38 Kadabra. as always, during this entire battle, keep using good moves, but I don't know when you wouldn't XD;;, and keep chipping away. A strong attack is key to winning here, to kill the opponent fast, and not let it recover. I would suggest using a fire type for this battle, because it is a strong type, and can do lots of damage. after beating her first crone, next is the weaker of the group, a level 37 Mr. Mime. This is little guy will use stat raising moves, so get him quick. finish him off, and be prepared for the strongest of the heard. Alakazam level 43! Ok, not this is the strongest Pokemon you have seen in the game. One of my favorites, this Pokemon is deadly, the secret is, so finish it off fast, a fire attack, again, would do good damage. When you finally defeat him, next, with a fire or ice type, will be easy, Venomoth, level 38. Since it is grass flying, a fire or ice type will take it down with no problems, so claim your awesome victory!!

Fuchsia City -- Leader Koga -- Soul Badge

  • Pokemon: Koffing (lvl-37) & Koffing (lvl-37) & Weezing (lvl-43) & Muk (lvl-39)
  • Type: Poison
  • Recommended Type/level: Ground/Fighting/Psychic - level 39+
  • Payment: TM06 - Toxic

The one thing I don't get about this gym, the Pokemon in the last gym are just as hard, there is no increase... its weird. Well anyway, a good ground, fighting or psychic type Pokemon will do in this case, first out Koffing. At level 37, this little thing is easy to beat, just take it down in a couple random hits. ... blah blah blah, same thing ... -___-. Well now its another tough Pokemon, a level 43 Weezing. The Pokemon for the job would be a psychic, but just hit him with a water grass or fire move a bunch of times, and he will be killed. Now that the tough Pokemon are out of the way, all thats left is a level 39 Muk, witch is still pretty hard to beat. Chances are, you are already poisoned, if not, he will get you nice and sick. After he gives you some useless poisoning a temps, hit him with a strong elemental attack and finish him off!

Cinnabar Island -- Leader Blaine -- Volcano Badge

  • Pokemon: Ponyta (lvl-40) & Growlithe (lvl-42) & Rapidash (lvl-42) & Arcanine (lvl-47)
  • Type: Fire
  • Recommended Type/level: water - level 45 (about)
  • Payment: TM38 - Fire Blast

If you have a water type Pokemon this battle will finish in a number of seconds, but if you have a different type, it might be a little harder. just same old same old, water = win! Blast all the Pokemon with some water moves and your Pokemon will rule all! lol xDDD;;

Viridian City -- Leader Giovanni -- Earth Badge

  • Pokemon: Rhyhorn (lvl-45) & Dugtrio (lvl-42) & Nidoqueen (lvl-43) & Rhyhorn (lvl-50) & Nidoking (lvl-43)
  • Type:
  • Recommended Type/level: Water/Psychic/Ground - level 45+
  • Payment: TM27 - Fissure

Well, another really easy, one type boss, witch you can beat if you have just the right type of Pokemon, well, guess again! This boss relies on different types of Pokemon, like rock poison and others. so the best Pokemon you should have with you are a water type (your water starter) a ground type, a digglet evolved or something, and a fighting or something els you want. Fist comes out a level 45 Rhyhorn, witch with one blow, can be killed, so if you have the water starter, or a different water, use it now and kill him in one blow. The next sent out id a level 42 Dugtrio, with a fighting, can be take down. After, now comes a Nidoqueen, level 43 witch with a ground move (earthquake) will be the best here. Now, another Rhyhorn, you can take this joker, use water! Now be careful, because he is the strongest Pokemon here, and will put up a battle. Next, and last is a Nidoking, level 43, just use earthquake and finish him, now its on to the elite 4, good luck ^^.
